I Have a Confession To Make

I think I am actually starting to enjoy this running thing.  Yes, me, who even in my fittest days would whine when we had to run laps at tennis and practically cried every time the coach made us do Killers in basketball.  Me - who just a few months ago could barely make it to the end of Elliott Street (where Clay Fitness is located) - is starting to actually enjoy it.

Don't get too excited about this.  I didn't say I LOVED it and I'm not signing up for any marathons or crazy shit like that. I'm just not wanting to die, cry or curse Hyam's name as I'm doing it anymore.  I've been running three miles almost every day I'm not at Clay and I even signed up for a 6K in October (Real Girls Run - want to join me?).  It's insanity, I know.

Hyam's getting a big group together to run the Charlottesville Fall Classic 10K for Clay and I don't think I'm quite ready for that yet (mentally or physically) but who knows....maybe next year?

  1. Maybe next year I will do it with you! I was going to do the 6K but I had signed up for a5K on Oct. 2...and now I'm in Florida for the funeral so...I'm signed up for CHO Turkey Trot early on Thanksgiving Day...I like it too!! Or else I wouldn't do it in Florida humidity...not 3 miles but...1.5-2 anyway :)

  2. The fact that you are doing it in Florida is amazing! I'd definitely take the funeral (and the humidity) as an excuse to take a few days off. I'm slower than molasses and won't be winning any contests for looking good at the end, but I'm doing it! Can't wait to do it with you next year!

  3. I understand how you feel, as I was sure that I'd never learn to love running. Now I think I'm addicted.

I'm signed up for the 6K in 10 days too, plus the SHE 5K in November. I had been toying with the 10 miler next spring, but now my sister and brothers want me to do a half marathon with them. If it were on a flat course, I'd have no hesitation, but 7 miles of it are in the Blue Ridge Mountains, so I'm feeling very nervous about it.

  4. I am so totally in awe of you Jen! If I survive the 6K I think I'll try to train for the 10 miler. DID I JUST SAY THAT???
